In Korean, "Pung-Mi 風味" is used in two senses: one is the noble and exquisite taste of food, and the other is the personality of a good-natured person. There is also the homonym, "Pung-Mi 風靡," which refers to the fall of vegetation due to the wind, and which is also an expression for the way certain social phenomena or trends spread widely in society. The title of this book, Pung-Mi, includes all the meanings associated with this word.
Pung-Mi is co-authored by Sunyoung Oh (Korea), Wan Chantavilasvong (Thailand), Gatari Surya Kusuma (Indonesia), Daniel Duarte Pereira (Portugal), Tessa Peters (UK), and Zeke Sales (The Philippines), December 2023. It contains each individual’s research developed through various conversations and collaborations between participants and residents during their investigations into the ecology and environment of Yaksan-myeon, Wando, during the Song of the Wind artist-in-residence program.
